A friend once told me “In Sri Lanka you can discover who you really are.” If you stay long enough and your heart and soul are ready to receive, Sri Lanka brings you a host of life-enhancing encounters.

Perhaps it is the simplicity of life in Sri Lanka which gives you more space to contemplate.

Maybe it is the abundant, vibrant nature which brings multiple surprises.

And the mix of powerful synchronicity, mystery and the lowest gravity in the world.

From my personal experience, I have unravelled many layers and stepped into a more empowered me in Sri Lanka. I have endured challenges which have tested me physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I have learned to stand up to bullies and narcissists, and walk confidently with dignity. My intuition has been heightened in the midst of the jungle where I walk barefoot. The ocean has welcomed me as I swim like a mermaid. The wildlife and every aspect of nature has dazzled me with its magic. I have found help when I needed it in the most unusual places, from the kindest of people.

I have had the most surreal experiences, touched by unseen forces at sacred sites. A clear message came through as I stood beneath an ancient bo tree: Protect Mother Earth. The same message came through as I meditated at a rock carving with special energy. This potent message has special meaning. I woke up to the realities of the harm of chemicals on land and water which come into our bodies.

I am the guardian of a special corner of Sri Lanka. In recent years I have been keeping it natural, pure and chemical-free. Nature has responded in a miraculous way - wild, edible weeds have been popping up and the diversity of birds and animals has multiplied. I started an experiment called “splish, splash, splosh” to keep a pool naturally clean. Despite many failures, I persisted with it. And now it is working!

And the biggest surprise of all. My creativity is bursting forth in a blaze of wonder. Quirky stories and songs with inspiring themes. A special brand of “wake up and shake up” fiction rooted in my enduring belief that fiction can become reality. Yes! Yes! Yes!
